"Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you"
1 Peter 5: 7

Here is a timely word, a text that is certainly relevant. In a strange and insecure world many are weighedBurdens down with burdens and care. Sometimes we have those days when everything seems to go wrong and we feel like saying with Jacob, "all these things are against me" (Genesis 42:36).

Cares are a common experience and are not far to seek. They can take so many different forms, and like a dark cloud they blot out the sunshine. We need to beware of reacting wrongly to trouble, for sometimes we can indulge in self-pity and think we are the only ones with care.

It is helpful to recall that Peter wrote these words in time of persecution. Christians were spoken of as evil-doers, and the might of the civil power was launched against them. The Apostle wrote to comfort and encourage the oppressed, to strengthen faith and to sweeten care.

The Apostle Paul, too, knew something of life's difficulties and problems, yet he knew something of a peace which passed all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

DeliveranceGod's people are not immune from trouble; cares are part of our earthly lot. We should not allow such experiences to fill us with anxiety, or to divide and distract our minds, or to disturb our peace.

God has His own way of lifting us above our circumstances - we have a God who cares. Therefore cast all your care upon Him!
